 Reconcili-ACTION & Indigenous Cultural Safety

In this workshop we will look at Canada’s history of settler colonialism, explore
how to recognize and challenge racism against Indigenous members, and
discuss how we can leverage our power as union activists to advance
reconciliation and Indigenous cultural safety in our workplaces and locals.
SLS – What stewards need to know about bargaining
Pre-requisites: Introduction to Stewarding

Oct 28, 2025 (9:00am-12:00pm)
Learn about the different steps in the bargaining process, the responsibilities
of different activists throughout bargaining, and the role during bargaining.
SLS – What stewards need to know about arbitration
Pre-requisites: Introduction to Stewarding
Oct 28, 2025 (1:00pm-4:00pm)
Although most grievances get settled, some go to arbitration. Learn about the
arbitration process, terms, mediated settlements, and the role of the steward
before and during arbitration. NOTE: Please bring your collective agreement
to the workshop.

Workshop Cost
The fee for this course is $25 for affiliated, $30 for non-affiliated and $35 for
out of district to hold your spot. Please make the cheque payable to Sault Ste

not later than October 10.

Parliamentary Procedure

Nov 13-14, 2025 (9:00am-4:00pm daily)

This workshop is about following rules of order when chairing union
meetings. Learn about the role of the chair and the different elements
(motions, amendments, points of order, etc.). Get a chance to put the
learning into practice.
NOTE: Please bring a copy of your local bylaws to the workshop.

Mental Health and Health & Safety Series
Nov 17-20, 2025 (9:00am-4:00pm daily)

Courses included: Health and Safety an Introduction; Basics of Incident
Investigation; Understanding Mental Health; Preventing mental injuries at
work, Recommendations and notetaking; and Identifying and documenting
hazards.

Cost per participant: The fee for this course is $80 for affiliated and $90 for non-affiliated and $100 for out of district to hold your spot.
